BabyBjorn Mini Carrier HONEST Review

If you’re reading this, you know me by now, I love baby carrying and getting outdoors. I love the freedom they offer and the fact that I can carrying on doing what I love, and that’s hiking.

Now I write this review after using it with my two boys, they were very similar size and weight, so it has given me a better feel for the carrier and confirmed my pros and cons!

The BabyBjorn Mini is literally what it says, a mini version of the BabyBjorn, it is advertised as being used for newborns and 0-12 months. It has really soft, smooth and flexible material so I can really see how nice it is for newborns to use.

However, with both of my sons, they had outgrown it by the time they were five months old, and I didn’t like using it after that, as I felt that it wasn’t as supportive enough for them, the base of the carrier no longer supported their hips and knees in the deep ‘M’ position and as they grew, the shoulder straps starting straining my shoulders so gave me back ache whilst wearing it.

Review:

So here's my honest review about this carrier:

My favourite thing - how simple and easy it is to use! It is really quick and convenient to get baby in and out of, especially if you’re out or running around after other kids. There are 4 clicks and 2 slides and away you go!

Adjustability - it is easy to adjust the carrier to your babies length, the straps criss-crossing on your back are adjustable keeping your baby close to you, and you can adjust the headrest as well. Other than that, there’s not much else to adjust

Practical - I would say yes, it is really practical and simple for newborns. As my babies grew though, I would have to say no, it simply didn’t grow with them and there isn’t any other features

Feeding - As with my first, I combi-feed my second but started bottle feeding more and more so my judgement is mainly for bottle feeding. It is easy to do but does still need a few minutes if faffing around first! I would say the easiest way to get baby to feed is to undo one of the headrest buckles and place the bottle in the right position for baby

Comfort and design - An extremely comfy and simple design make this carrier effortless to use. However, it is advertised as being able to carry baby both inward and outward facing when front carrying. I never did this with either of my babies as again, I don’t feel that the carrier is supportive enough of the deep ‘M’ position when front facing, so facing outward, the material would not support their hips and spine enough. Additionally the straps strained my back too much, so was not a comfortable position for me

Overall - 3.5/5. I think this carrier is great for newborns, but after that it’s time for a different carrier!
